   Fogging And Misting

Misting is to cool an area for habitation via evaporative cooling.  Fogging is to create clouds of fog in the landscape for aesthetic value.  Both effects are achieved with the same equipment.

Misting:  Small nozzles are placed around the perimeter ABOVE the area to be cooled.  Water is discharge in very small droplets which evaporate in the air and upon contact with the skin.  By placing nozzles every two feet around a perimeter you can create a wall separating hotter area outside with the cooler area inside.

Acceptable misting can be accomplished using the existing water pressure from your domestic tap if you have more than 70 psi.  For best results, use a booster pump.  The pump adds pressure so you operate at 1,000 psi.  Water is vaporized upon exiting the nozzles which allows you to achieve the best cooling performance.

Fogging:  The same nozzles are placed on small stakes in the landscape to create clouds of fog that rolls through plantings and hardscapes to create a mystical environment.  Fog effects are a natural add-on to water features and intricate landscapes!  Spectacular scenes are possible when placed in the right positions.  Experimentation is necessary to find the best placement.

Use elevation changes to cause fog to roll into the lower areas.  Fog can even be encouraged to flow over water in swimming pools for an interesting affect.  Trial and error will explore the possible variations capable for the property.  Wind is a problem of course since the vaporized water will easily blow away.

Fogging requires a booster pump.  Since fog is created when water vaporizes operation at 1,000 psi is a must.

Maintenance is simple.  The booster pump includes a filter.  Because the nozzles have very small opening any debris in the water will plug them.  Clean the filter as often as needed.  How often will be based on how much debris is in the water.  If nozzles do plug, simply replace them.  Plugged nozzles are the most common failure with cut tubing the second.  Placement of the tubing will help protect it, but damage still occurs.  Simple fitting are used for tubing installation and repair.

Easy to install, not very expensive, and easy to maintain.  Fogging is a natural addition to most any landscape.
