The Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association hosted the first annual Ohio High School Landscape Olympics. 150 high school students from across Ohio attended the event November 3-4 at OSU ATI in Wooster, Ohio.

Ohio high schools, career centers, and horticulture
programs joined together to get youth interested in the green
industry. This event acted as an educational competition for students to test their hands-on skills. Ten events were held between the two days that brought together students from 17 schools.

Before the competitions, 25 companies provided students with an opportunity to explore the green industry by asking questions and learning about careers.

Sponsored by Wolf Creek Company, 13 teams and 26 students battled in the irrigation skills challenge. Awards were presented to the following teams:

  1. Knox County Career Center
  2. Ohio Hi-Point
  3. Medina County Career Center
  4.  Talawanda-Butler Tech
  5. Upper Valley Career Center

Wolf Creek Company is proud to be a part of the efforts to help alleviate the labor shortage by attracting young people into our industry. A special thanks goes to Rain Bird and Spears for donations of material. We are looking forward to many more successful years to come!
