There are so many factors in maintaining a great playing course. Although each golfer has a speed preference for the greens, it is not as easy to manage as a they might expect. Thought to be one of the more difficult and time consuming parts of managing a course, superintendents know the struggle of finding a green cut that works for their clientele. Even though a fast roll is desired, you also have to consider how to keep the grass alive too.

Green speed is one thing, but the turf health is also a juggling game. Despite the unrealistic expectations of many players, superintendents are given no choice but the meet the desires of the golfer for job security purposes. However another factor does weigh into this challenge; cost. Hoe can superintendents keep greens fast, alive and do it on a tight budget? Chemical and water budget holds many superintendents from making the improvements to their course they desire.
